According to the Constitution of the WSCF, the function of the
General Assembly shall be to celebrate the global fellowship and
strengthen the love of faith, which bonds the Federations together.
Another Constitutional point that is necessary to consider for
the General Assemblies, is the considerations of ideas, problems,
and aspirations of member, defining the Federation’s programs

3. HIV and AIDS Training – Overcoming Stigma & Leadership
and capacity building Training
Human rights are inextricably linked to the spread and impact
of HIV and AIDS on individuals and communities around the world.
Failure to respect human rights helps to spread the disease and
to exacerbate the impact at the same time as HIV and AIDS undermines
progress in the implementation of human rights.
The rights of people living with HIV and AIDS are often violated
because of their presumed or known HIV status. These people are
doubly penalized, on the one hand by the disease itself and by
the loss that it brings to their other rights. Stigma and discrimination
can block their access to treatment; affect their jobs, their
homes and other rights. That, in turn, contributes to other risk
both the stigma and discrimination that discourage people with
HIV and those otherwise penalized because of the disease make
themselves known to health services and social services. It follows
that it is precisely those who have the greatest need to be informed,
educated and counseled who are deprived of such services, even
when they are available.
The WSCF in its strategy of action against HIV and AIDS as a welcoming
and compassionate community intends to tackle a stigma because
we believe like other organizations, that if we want to win the
fight against HIV and AIDS, you must start by eliminating stigma
and discrimination.
Request 2008: US $ 18,500
4. Human Rights Training & Africa Regional Committee Meeting
The situation of Human Rights in some African countries is generally
reported to be poor. Many nations have at least nominally recognized
basic human rights for all citizens, though in practice theses
are not always recognized. Extensive human rights abuses still
occur in several parts of Africa. Most of such violations occur
for political reasons, often during the electoral process. Arbitrary
detentions, intimidation or arrest, torture, summary executions,
censorship and, denial of the right of the people to choose their
own representative are witnessed during the electoral process
in some countries in Africa. Human abuse remains a major threat
for peace in the continent.
WSCF Africa Region recognizes addressing human rights violations
as one of the most pressing challenges in Africa and it is for
that reason that the Regional Office is planning to organized
a training workshop programs on human rights education.
The project aimed to enhance knowledge of participants in the
field of human rights.
It’s also aim to provide tools and adequate information
which will help our members to fight effectively on human rights
abuse in the continent.
